Before you enroll

Questions from parents.

Which grades can my student enter?

The school names applicants to Second Form (Grade 8), Third Form (Grade 9), Fourth Form (Grade 10) and Fifth Form (Grade 11).

Are test scores required?

Groton requires standardized test results. Applicants may take the SSAT or the ISEE. Second Form (Grade 8) applicants may take the middle or upper level SSAT, and Third Form (Grade 9) applicants the upper level SSAT. Fourth and Fifth Form applicants may submit PSAT, SAT, ACT or upper level SSAT results. All grade levels may take the ISEE.

Is an interview required?

An interview is part of the process. A student-led campus tour comes right before it. Groton does not state an interview completion date on the page we reviewed.

What does it cost?

$62,740 for 2026-27 (boarding) $48,850 for 2026-27 (day) Fast Facts lists a $600 technology fee and a $400 health fee for boarding students.

Does Groton offer financial aid?

All financial aid is awarded on the basis of demonstrated need, not merit. Groton does not offer scholarships based on particular talents or attributes. Tuition is free for students whose family income is $150,000 or less per household, for domestic and international families alike, provided assets are in line with income. Families still submit the Clarity application with tax returns.

Does need affect admission?

Groton does not consider a family's financial circumstances in admission decisions. Admission and aid decisions are made independently by two separate committees.

Is financial aid available to international families?

International students are eligible for financial aid.

When do families hear back?
